Our most recent ANR was on new methods of early detection for Alzheimer’s patients. Currently, Alzheimer’s can only be diagnosed after significant brain damage has already occurred. However, research results shown at the 2014 Alzheimer’s Association International Conference indicate that simpler, less invasive tests, such as testing decreased ability to detect odors or testing for an abnormal brain protein in the eye, will identify Alzheimer’s much earlier. More research is needed to make these tests useful in the doctor’s office. Find out more and consider donating at alz.org
